Meet the Team
Bruce Ure
Bruce's early career was in the audio electronics industry where he worked for a local radio station, then an esoteric hi-fi manufacturer. After that he managed the technical support department at a computer company in Canterbury, then moved to London to work for various City firms as a high-end support engineer. He was a developer and support manager for CIX (where he met Ian), one of the UK's first internet companies. He then worked as a VB and Remedy programmer until November 2008 when, in need of a fresh challenge, he started home computer repair business ComputerFIX Ltd. Having successfully established ComputerFIX, he is now applying his unusually broad experience and wide range of skills to BDI Systems.
Bruce is the resident Apple expert at BDI and is rarely far from one of his (possibly too many) Macs or his iPhone (and iPad as soon as he can get his mitts on one). When not marvelling at new technologies he is a keen photographer, loves running and is entering his fifth London Marathon this coming April.
Oh and he loves cats.
Dave Bamford
After studying Electrical Engineering at Imperial College in London Dave started work at Plessey Radar where he designed automated test equipment for electronic circuit boards. Dave then moved to work at Teradyne, a Boston based Automatic Test Equipment manufacturer, where he helped create the test routines for the fist IBM PCs. He continued in this area creating programs to test Intel processors and other complex devices.
Dave then founded his own company developing programs to test military hardware for companies such as BAE and Thales. He then merged with Logical Progress where he provided consultancy and training for many large European Electronic Corporations. In the 1990s Logical Progress diversified into the IT support and Supply market and Dave successfully divested this for further growth as a core business in its own right, which is now to become part of BDI.
Dave's operating system of choice is Linux, and he likes a pub quiz.
Rob 'Ian' Lee
Rob has worked in the IT and Internet industry for the past 15 years, spending nearly a decade at Compulink Information eXchange, one of the earliest of the British Internet Service providers. He occupied a diverse range of roles within the company managing and easing growing pains as the company underwent epic expansion. These roles included starting a sales team, managing and growing the Technical Support Team to meet the demanding needs of a growing business and a stint within the networking team managing internet connectivity services.
Rob then went on to found ONS, a highly successful local IT support company focusing on competently delivering successful Microsoft solutions as a Microsoft partner. In addition he spent 8 years as part of the team running a highly efficient local authority in London turning over in excess of £100 Million, chairing a number of committees including that of Audit. He stepped down from this role to take up his position in BDI Systems.
Rob's our Microsoft guru, and is keen on cycling, gadgets, politics and is a trustee of Citizen's Advice Bureaux in Kingston upon Thames.
The Others
Behind the scenes at BDI is a team of unsung heroes: there are our office administrators, accountants and book keepers, and a veritable fleet of technical colleagues and business partners whom we call upon to advise with some of the more challenging or specialised technical aspects of what we do: we're not afraid to ask for help if we don't know something. This refreshing philosophy along with our commitment to using all the resources available to us is what allows BDI to deliver top quality solutions time after time.
